With almost all computer manufacturers revamping and upgrading their ultraportable and Netbook range, can Lenovo be far behind? 2009 has been a crucial and important year for the PC makers with a plethora of new technologies and products hitting the market. Lenovo has decided to woo the business users with a sleek ultraportable named the ThinkPad X100e. The machine will be pitted against the likes of HP Mini, Asus Eee PC and Acer Aspire One range of net book and portable laptops. It will not use an Intel Atom CPU like most of the netbooks but opt for an AMD Neo processor. The model will also have a different keyboard.
As per the available information, the X100e is likely to have a spacious 11.6 inch screen with a resolution of 1366 x 768. To complement the Neo CPU, it will have 4GB of memory along with a roomy 320 GB hard drive. The keyboard will not be like what the users have seen in the typical ThinkPad notebooks. Besides, it will be resistant to accidental spills. While the Athlon Neo MV-40 CPU outperforms the Atom counterparts it also draws more power. This will have an impact on the battery life of the device.
The three USB ports are adequate for connecting external peripherals. One of these ports can be used for charging external peripherals even when the laptop is off. However, the omission of HDMI is certainly queer. The laptop will possibly feature a Radeon HD 3410 Chip for display. The six cell battery can be upgraded as well. However, the final specification of the laptop might change and the price is expected to be around $500.
